BiographyBarbara Donnelly, an art graduate of Boston University, maintains an art gallery /studio on the working harbor in downtown Gloucester, MA where she paints both watercolors and oils.
An award winning artist, painting her entire life, she has been a popular teacher for over thirty years. Currently, she conducts painting workshops from her studio and for art organizations. As well as painting in New England she enjoys painting abroad, studying the varying light, landscape and architecture. France, Ireland, Scotland, Puerto Rico, Canada, Portugal and China have provided her with extensive subject matter.
A life-defining moment was winning an international award of an Artist-in-Residency to paint in France. Living alone for two months in a small cottage by a canal, she made friends, became fluent in the language and returns to different regions of France annually to paint. Being invited to have a One Artist Exhibition of her French paintings at l'Ambassade de France in Washington, D.C. was an exciting experience and an honor.
